FAQ

How can we help you?

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.
What should I wear during a treatment?
When receiving a Thai Massage, you should wear loose fitting clothes or Jaiyen can provide you with outfits for all sizes.
If you are receiving a massage using oil you should undress to your level of comfort. Most of our clients prefer to be completely undressed, but others are more comfortable keeping their undergarments on during the massage. Your massage therapist will keep your body covered with a blanket and sheet during your session. Only the body part being worked on will be uncovered.
Should I discuss the amount of pressure that I want during my massage?
Yes you should. The different types of massage utilize different amounts of pressure, which can be varied according to your preference. Please communicate with the massage practitioner if you are feeling any discomfort, or if you would like the pressure to be increased. We are here to tend to your needs, so feel comfortable requesting what you want.
Should I tell my massage therapist about any medical conditions, medications or allergies?
Absolutely. Jaiyen will have you fill out a customer intake form the first time you visit us. It is important for you to indicate and update any health conditions the therapist should be aware of before you start your massage.
When should I arrive for my massage?

Jaiyen likes to have customers check in 10 minutes before your appointment so that you have time to check in and relax. If you are having a Thai or a Reflexology massage you can change into loose fitting clothes.
First time visitors should check in 15 minutes early so they will have ample time to fill out their intake form.

What if I’m running late for my appointment?
Arriving late may limit may interfere with our ability to provide you with best possible massage experience. We will attempt to make an extension so that you will get your full time, however, if we have another customer scheduled to start immediately after your appointment, your session will be cut short. You will be responsible for payment of the full service. Please be prompt.
How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.
What is your cancellation policy?
When you make a reservation, we block that time exclusively for you. Jaiyen is a small spa with only 6 massage rooms; therefore, cancellations need to be given 48 hours-notice prior to your appointment. Any cancellation made less than 48 hours will be charged in full.
What should I tip?
Our massage therapists appreciate gratuities for a job well done. Tips are generally 15-25% or more of the price of the massage service. Tips can be paid in cash after the massage, or can be added to a charge if paying by credit card.
Can I bring my pet or kids?
We love kids and animals, but please leave them at home.
This does not apply to service animals for people with disabilities, which are always welcome.
What is cancellation policy at Jaiyen Spa?
Scheduled treatments are reserved specifically for you. The individualized nature of our services requires us to prepare treatment rooms in advance for each client. Jaiyen requires a valid credit card when you make your reservation. Cancellations must be made 48 hours before you scheduled appointment. If you miss your appointment, a cancellation fee of $35 per person will be applied to your account.
Any cancellation made less than 48 hours will be charged in full.

What They Say

Who knew we would have the best massages of our lives in Sebastopol, CA? This was an anniversary gift for my fiance and I. The couples massage is such a good deal and was literally the best massage I have ever had in my life. I wish I lived closer so we could go here more often, but it will be a once or twice a year kind of thing sadly. The cash discount was a pleasant surprise which made it an even better deal. I would highly recommend getting massages here.

Remarkably positive experience! My hubby surprised me with a 90 min massage for my birthday. From the start.. It was great! The receptionist was friendly and welcoming....and there was a bday card along with a beautiful box of chocolates on the massage table when I walked in. Greg was OUTSTANDING! The right amount of pressure and super technique. The atmosphere was chill and clean. Best massage I've had in a long time.  And from what my hubby tells me, it was a terrific value. He saw Jaeb at the same time... And also had glowing reviews.
